MOMOTARO

Once upon a time, there lived in Japan a peasant and his wife. They were sad couple because they had no children. They kept praying to their god pleading to give them a child.

While cutting wood by a stream one day, the man saw a large peach floating on the water. He ran to pick it up. His wife was excited because she had never seen such a large peach before. They were about to cut the peach when they heard a voice from inside.

The couples were surprised to do anything. The peach then cracked open, and there was a beautiful baby inside. The couples were very happy, of course. They named the baby Momotaro, which meant ‘peach boy’.

Momotaro grew up to be clever, courage young man. His parents loved him very much. One day, Momotaro told his parents hat he was going to fight the pirates who always attacked their village. These pirates lived on an island a few kilometers away. Momotaro’s mother packed his food, and his father gave him a sword. Having blessed Momotaro, they sent him off on his journey.

Sailing on his boat, Momotaro met an eagle going in the same direction. They became good friends; soon, both of them arrived on the island of the pirates.

Momotaro drew out the sacred sword his father had given him and began to fight the pirates. The eagle flew over the thieves’ heads, pecking at their eyes. Finally, the pirates were defeated.

Momotaro brought home all the goods that pirates had stolen. His parents were proud of him, and they were overjoyed at his victory and save return.

Ball Dome

Last night our family went to Ball Dome to watch the Kings play the Shooters.

When we got to the stadium, an usher showed us our seats. Just as we sat down the band played the national anthem so we stood.

After the anthem both teams entered the court. As they did, the cheerleaders waved their steamers.

Next, the referee placed his whistle in his mouth and signaled the start of the play. The game was so hot that the supporters of the two teams yelled out their chants every time a player scored the point.

In the end, the Shooters won and our family was happy that both teams had given their best.

REPORT : Gold

Definition:

To describe the way things are with reference to a range of natural, man made and social phenomenon in our environment.

Generic Structure: - General Classification

                             - Description

Gold

Gold is a precious metal. Gold is used as ornaments or as money.

Gold is found in many places, but in a small supply. It is often found on the surface of the earth. Since gold is a heavy substance, it is sometimes found loose on the bottom of rivers. The gold is found together with sand and rocks, and must be separated from them. It is simple to search for this type of gold.

It is not usually necessary to drill for gold, but when a layer of gold is located deep below the surface of the earth, it is possible to drill a hole into the ground. Engineers have developed modern process for removing gold from rocks.

Since gold is not very hard, it is sometimes melted and added to other substances for making rings, coins, and art objects. It will be priced forever because it is beautiful, rare, and useful.

Jamie Foxx: Stupidest Thing

Jamie Foxx was once asked to recall the stupidest thing he had ever done. "I did it just recently in Australia," he said.

"I normally don't go in the ocean, but myself, Jessica Biel and some friends from the cast of Stealth had a couple of shots at this place called Iceberg, which is right on the ocean in Sydney, and she's like, 'Come on, Jamie.' I was like, 'You know what? I'm gonna do it.' So I run and jump in the ocean, and I'm bodysurfing, and it's like 1 A.M. I'm having a good time, I get out, and a guy says, 'Where you been, mate?' I'm drying myself off, and I say, 'I was in the ocean, man. Had a great time.' He goes, 'Mate, the feeding hours for sharks are from 12 to 4.'

So that was probably the stupidest thing. I would have been the only black dude ever eaten by a shark."

Description

FLOATING MARKET

The market is called a floating market because the trade takes place on boats – in Indonesia, they are called klotok and jukung.

This market has existed for over 400 years. In the past, people from inland areas brought their agricultural produce or handicrafts to sell. They bartered with people from the coastal areas. Nowadays, people can buy things such as fruit, vegetables, traditional cakes and even clothes from this ‘pasar terapung’. Another unique feature of these markets is the time of trading. It begins around 5 a.m. and finishes at 9a.m.

Report : Chimpanzees

Saturday, February 14, 2009
Chimpanzees use a system of different sounds to communicate with each other. One type of cry seems to mean something like “danger in the air or “big birds” and another apparently means “danger on the ground” or “snakes”. The first cry causes them to hide in holes or under trees and look up at the sky. When they hear the second cry, they hide in the upper branches of trees and stare nervously at the grass.

Chimpanzees are capable of learning sign language. One Chip called Washoe learned to make about 160 separate signs meaning things like “give me a drink” and “banana”. Washoe even learned to swear. She had a teacher called Jack who once refused to give her a drink. Washoe got angry and used several signs which meant “dirty Jack”. A group of chimps at a research institute in Atlanta, Georgia, has recently been taught to type sentences using a computer. The chimp’s trainer was called, Tim, and he kept correcting the mistakes made by one of the chimps. The chimp obviously wanted Tim to stop correcting him and type out the following request “Tim, please leave this room”.
